Fresh from her makeover [here], she got to grips (a little shakily) with her Semi Final performance in Britains Got Talent and ended it off with gusto.

Barely 5 minutes after she was on telly in the UK for the semi finals of Britains got Talent, this vid was on youtube…

..and of course twitter went apeshit and she was trending the top of the list in like 3 seconds. Are we gonna see her become a full on star or will she be the Twitter / Social Media superstar?

I guess only time will tell. It’s a pity the clip didn’t show the judges comments but she went through so more Susan Boyle Mania awaits in the future!

I can only imagine how our Local South Africas Got Talent show will be later this year. More here and here on that!

Nice Idea Ms Anderson

It’s pretty nifty and ‘kudos‘ to Ms Anderson for a great idea. This in essence is a business card that can be used over and over again, as many times as Ms Anderson updates her twitter stream.

Yes I went there and no I’m not following it either.

You might notice I used the word ‘kudos‘ up there. Kudos is one of those words people use when they’re trying to be better than everyone else. It’s like ‘surreal’. You know you’re a prized A1 knobface if you say surreal more than say… twice a month.

I remember watching an interview with Daniel Radcliffe just after he Harry Pottied his ass for the first time and he was about 12 years old and he said ‘You know my life is so surreal right now’. He then used the word three more times in the same interview.

He had clearly just learn’t it.

I can imagine all those posh toffs runing around saying ‘oh my kudos to you what’

Naturally the Americans had to go and change it, but then again they like to change everything British to differentiate themselves from the Brits. Rugby, Cricket, NFL, Baseball… you get the idea.

Nowadays life a little bit harsher. We all know someone who says the m’fucker word a little too liberally I’m sure.

“Twitter has enjoyed a nice ride over the last few months, but it will not be able to sustain its meteoric rise without establishing a higher level of user loyalty,” said David Martin, Nielsen Online’s vice president for primary research.

I think Twitter is a unique site which will be around a while, this is just a hunch. It think the fact you can tweet from you cellphone and it’s a microblog will keeo the attraction there. Right now though if there is any danger of it being oversused or abused, its via SEO specialist or Social Marketeres trying to cash in on the faem of it all.

“Let there be no doubt: Twitter has grown exponentially in the past few months with no small thanks to celebrity exposure,”

Martin said that when Facebook and MySpace were emerging networks like Twitter their retention rates were twice as high and they now have retention rates of nearly 70%.

I think this is a different kettle of fish. I’d like to see a little more done on the profile side of things in terms of using the actual twitter website… but not too much, just a little more so I can see some more info on who I’m  following. Maybe a picture or two more and some web links etc.

Martin did say that Twitter’s current 40% retention rate was better than the 30% it enjoyed pre-Oprah.

If you are a follower of social media this will appeal to you. The funny thing is that these guys probably could have done this deal had they owned these domains and with a little help here are there. I’ve been involved in internet media for over 12 years now and I’ve seen A LOT of kak ideas come and go, this one ain’t too bad.
