Remember Frank Abagnale Jr?

He is the guy that Leonardo di Caprio played in the movie Catch Me If You Can.

Well in case you didn’t know he was a youngster who posed as an airline pilot to and a Doctor to ‘get ahead’ in life. Wiki wiki explains.

Frank William Abagnale, Jr. (born April 27, 1948) is an American security consultant and former check confidence trickster, forger and impostor. He became notorious in the 1960s for passing bad checks worth about $2.5 million in 26 countries over the course of five years.[1] During this time, he used at least eight aliases to cash bad checks.

Anyway in a bizarre case of copycatting, a 17 year old York lad was this week busted doing exactly the same thing!

Iol reports:

New York – A York teenager was questioned by police after tricking British aviation executives into believing he was an airline tycoon.

In a hoax echoing the Steven Spielberg movie, Catch Me If You Can, the 17-year-old posed as a businessman in his twenties for six months, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Under the pseudonym Adam Tait, he flew to New Jersey to hold a meeting with the director of its airport to launch a cut-price Channel Islands airline.

His exploits mirror the character played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the film Catch Me If You Can which was based on the real life escapades of Frank Abagnale Jr, who posed as an airline pilot from the age of 16 and 21.
