The cartoon – depicting the Zuma unbuckling his trousers whilst various ANC bigwigs (and Malema) held down lady justice – was published around the time of the presidents rape trial and prompted Mr Zuma to file for R15-million as he felt it was an attack on his dignity. Any right-minded person could see that it was in fact nothing more than a depiction of the lengths to which various ANC people were going to ensure that allegations of corruption, rape, tender rigging etc would not be subjected to the countries laws.

Either way, JZ didn’t like it and although he’s dropped the claim to around R5-million now, he’s still going after Zapiro.

Which makes todays Mail & Guardian cartoon all the more daring and in TheFrenchConnection’s opinion all the more relevant. There is a massive drive from government to bulldoze the new protection of information bill through parliament and once again, anybody who has an ounce of sense can plainly tell that this is nothing more than an attempt to try and scare the media away from whistle-blowing and exposing corruption, particularly at governement level.

Not that they would ever effectively cover it up. They only need to look at the recent uprisings to the north of the continent in places like Egypt to see that no matter how hard you try, you will never stop the spread of information on the World Wide Watchdog. And you’ll never close down Twitter either Floyd.

At Socialyz we have an enormous amount of articles surrounding JuJu and the ANC. Their election campaign had me vomiting on a daily basis and I couldn’t help but wonder who would actually vote for these idiots.

Their campaign was based on race. Are you black or white or coloured? Are you a boer? Actually yes I am white and my forefathers are boers and I think it’s disgusting that you tar all white people with the same brush. This goes both ways by the way.

We all remember the quotes so who could actually take this guy seriously? Infact, who could take this political party serious? Deborah Patta from 3rd degree asked Julius,”If you fail matric,would you kill yourself?”Julius replied,”Me kill myself, I would rather commit suicide” All white people are thieves. If you don’t vote for the ANC you will go to Hell, and if you don’t vote for the ANC Mandela will die etc etc etc…

I read an article on News24 written by an ANC supporter and I actually pity that person. Yes, the Western Cape isn’t perfect but why don’t you move to Gauteng? I dare you! If in 17 years, YEARS, they couldn’t get their act straight what makes you think they will do it now? 17 Years people!

I moved to the Western Cape 6 months ago and over night I saw a change.When I stepped off the airplane that morning, I was greeted with “Welcome to the REAL South Africa”.

The Western Cape isn’t perfect but it is so much better than any other part of the country simply because the DA know what they are doing. Zille is a former journalist and anti-apartheid activist,and famously exposed the truth behind the death of Black Consciousness leader Steve Biko while working for the Rand Daily Mail in the late 1970s. I bet you Juju and Zuma don’t now that because they are blinded by the race factor.

It’s treating everyone fairly and working together. I suppose if you fail wood work you can’t be expected to know everything.

Now I’ve only got a few questions. How many of their supporters have that sort of disposable income? And assuming they do get a few takers, what exactly are they going to do with that money?

So what is this? An attempt to gain public sympathy? He was after all defending our good presidents honour by standing up to 4 drunk thugs calling Zuma the K word. Is it an attempt to gain some lost respect from Zuma? Is it a racist rant, using the race card to gain both of these? Notice how in earlier reports he didn’t say what race the ‘culprits were’ rather that they called Zuma the K word, insinuating they weren’t black.

Die Burger reports that they interviewed up to 50 staff and regulars at the Papwa Sewgolum Golf Course in Reservoir Hills and no one could corroborate Shaik’s story that he had been attacked by four drunk men at the clubhouse.

Die Burger said that, according to Aslam Peer, the club’s spokesman, the incident “did not take place”.

Peer told the newspaper that they had thoroughly investigated the alleged assault and had interviewed staff, management, security and players and no one had seen anything.

Clubhouse manager Manju Patel she was also surprised to hear about Shaik’s claims.

An incident like this could not happen without someone knowing about it and if anyone saw anything they would have reported it to her, she told Die Burger.

“It is unacceptable to sing songs that ask that somebody gets shot,” De Klerk said.

“The historical context is irrelevant. It will be equally unacceptable if Afrikaners started singing songs from the Anglo Boer war that ask that English people be shot.”

De Klerk also spoke about Malema’s statements, made in Kimberley ahead of the local government elections, that white people were criminals because they had stolen land.

Malema has been hauled before the Equality Court for singing “shoot the boer”. Judgment is yet to be handed down.

Mark my words, the response from the ANC will be this. De Klerk is a racist and benefitted from apartheid etc blah blah. Never mind the fact that he negotiated a peaceful transition for SA to mass rule. Just like the fact they conveniently ignore the fact that Zille brought the worlds attention to the Steve Biko case.

Zuma was canvassing for votes in the North West ahead of the May 18 municipal elections.

He said voting for the ANC added value to the development of the country.

“When you vote for a party that is going to lose, then your vote is wasted. That vote does not help South Africa at all.”

Maybe this is something that was believable in the dark ages, but this is the 21st century now. Everyone should know, or should be educated on the ins and outs of voting. Voting for a party that is ‘going to lose’ is not a waste of a vote, and it does in fact help a democratic country. Our president is lying to his charges and this should be brought up and they should be told this.

This kind of blanket statement is very dangerous.

This is sure to attract some hate speech charges, as it’s clearly racist talk. This from the guy who claims he is not racist, yet there are racist utterings coming from him week after week. The ANC claim he was referring to a 1916 land grab by the then South African goverment. I think they give Malema too much credit. He is using obvious racist tactics to inflame his charges.

The ANC are quick to try and point out that casual obversers are generally stupid and have no knowledge of the past or electioneering tactics. The ANC celary do not give the average South African enough credit.

Malema was the main attraction as he pulled out all the stops in his campaign for local elections, now just days away.

“They (whites) have turned our land into game farms… The willing-buyer, willing-seller (system) has failed,” Malema said.

“We must take the land without paying. They took our land without paying. Once we agree they stole our land, we can agree they are criminals and must be treated as such,” he said to cheers from a crowd of about 3 000 people at the Galeshewe stadium, just outside Kimberley.

Although Zuma was billed as the main speaker, it was Malema – affectionately known as “Juju-baby” in these parts – who stole the show.

Zuma, who was in attendance, did nothing about these racist remarks and therefore must be seen to be in agreement.

I mentioned that the elections are coming up and this cartoon displays my thoughts exactly. We all believed in the Easter bunny or Santa Clause when we were 5 years old. And I’m sure many of you believe or believed, at one point, in the ANC’s election promises.

This year they promise even bigger things. We all read the news papers and we all see and hear about the absurd things the ANC party and it’s members ( this includes Julius Malema and his rants)get up to. Most days I just shake my head and wish I was an Ostrich so I could bury my head in the sand at how ashamed I am of our government. I’m not even talking about the “alleged” corruption within the ANC.

Nice one ANC. In other news apparently Zuma has convinced Gadaffi to agree to an African Union brokered peace deal.

Well not to be outdone, our favourite General is now pulling the comparison himself, likening the police force to Jesus and his 12 apostles.

He said that if even Jesus and God had criminals in their midst, it was to be expected that there would be criminals in the 193,000-strong police force, Beeld newspaper reported on Saturday.

I think he is missing the point and trying to paper over cracks for an organisation that is all too often in the news for the wrong reasons.

Cele said:

“Jesus Christ had an organisation of 12 people… among those 12 there was a criminal who sat with Jesus every day,”

Cele was quoted as saying this at a police cars handover ceremony in Pretoria on Friday.

“Even when Jesus berated him [Judas], he denied that it was him who was a criminal.

“In the Garden of Eden, there were two people. God himself did an inspection every morning. One day, He could not find them. They were hiding, because they had committed a crime,”

This kind of rhetoric is absolutely pointless, and aimed at the uneducated masses, it simple serves to baffle the followers with bullshit. Using the second bit of logic here, are  we ALL criminals? Two out of two is everybody right? Cele is supposed to be a lawman, not a preacher.

Umshini Wam (Bring Me My Machine Gun), a short film directed by Kids writer, Harmony Korine, and starring Die Antwoord’s Ninja and Yo-Landi premiered today at the SXSW festival in Texas.

I don’t know what to make of this myself, but have a look and tell me what you think! Maybe it’s a parody on what constitutes an apt reason to get brought ones machine gun. It certainly brings the concept to the fore and who better to ask the question of than Americans, who all seem to have access to guns whenever they like.

Now they can have them brought to them. Who knows, maybe Zuma can one day be indirectly responsible for a few gun mishaps in the US. Now wouldn’t that be something!

The Mail and Gaurdian reports that,

At almost R200-million, renovating President Jacob Zumas house in Pretoria will cost almost twice the price of the most expensive house in South Africa.

This while millions of people in our country live in shacks, while countless people still wait for houses promised by this government.The article continues…

According to the 2011 estimates of national expenditure released as part of the budget package, the refurbishment of Mahlamba Ndlopfu at the Bryntirion Estate will begin in April 2011 for a duration of 15 months and at a total cost of R191-million.

The project includes upgrading infrastructure at the residence, such as bulk water, services and roads. Aside from this, a hospital will be built on the estate, which will cost an additional R62-million.

That’s the kind of shit Robert Mugabe would do, why does this man need a hospital? Chances are if anything happened to him he would probably be out doing his presidential duty and not even be there… we would hope. This does not sound like a man doing one term as president, let alone two.

Ok so lets do some sums here… The cost of building an RDP house is about R58 000, so the amount spent on refurbishing Mahlamba Ndlopfu could pay for 3 293 homes for South Africas poorest.

And all this for a public servant who claims that all questions must be referred to national treasury, which said public works was the responsible ministry. Passing The Buck as usual.

Surprise that!

Party members from Gauteng, Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga claim lists of nominated councillors include friends and relatives of the powerful, and not people chosen by the branches.

Placards holders were seen waving placards that said ” Zuma help us to go to heaven!!!” Remember I wrote about that here?

ANC Heaven?

One of the ANC regional spokes people, Bhedeshane Mceleli, warned Gwede Mantashe and ANC top brass…

“We want him to understand how volatile this situation is. People have warned that they will have a revolt like in Egypt, only a bit more aggressive,” said Mceleli.

We always know how to do things a wee bit more agreesive ’round these parts.
