New Startup Can Kill Torrent Streams
This is kinda sucky if youre a pirate.
A new Russian startup has reportedly built a system to track and shut down copyrighted material distributed via the BitTorrent protocol.
Pirate Pay has received a $100 000 investment from Microsoft’s Seed Financing Fund as well, TorrentFreak reported.
The company’s first project, in collaboration with Walt Disney Studios and Sony Pictures, managed to stop tens of thousands of downloads. It’s not clear how many downloads were successful, however.
