SA Music Stars To Suck In Local Vampire Movie

I wrote about this a few weeks ago and now there is a bit more press around the topic.

Singers Francois van Coke, Inge Beckmann and Jack Parow will soon be making their debut on the big screen in the first Afrikaans vampire thriller, Bloedsuiers.

Van Coke plays shifty vampire Etienne and is said to have sought out the role himself, according Benjamin Cowley, the film’s co-producer.

“We approached Francois to use some of his music in the film after which he asked to read the script.

“We were very surprised when he asked us if he could play the role of Etienne, because he could identify with the character.”

Jack Parow as well as Inge Beckmann (vocalist and former singer of Lark), Porteus Xandau (Liefling and 7de Laan) and Cherie van der Merwe (Bakgat and Bakgat2) also appear in the film.

The film sets off in the time when Jan van Riebeeck arrives in Cape Town and then leaps forward to the present.

Awesome that! I’ve always wanted to see what Cape Town would have looked like all those years ago, here’s hoping we get some wide angle pan shots with lots of CGI!
