New opinion, Tree won’t grow in Lung.

News24 have done it again! Their latest article on the Spruce tree in a lung story makes a whole lotta more sense. Check it out here.

Now you’ll remember from my first article about this that I was skeptical, something you can tell from my general tone. I feel vindicated now. Honestly, trees grow using photosynthesis. They need oxygen (ok well you sometimes get THAT in a lung) and they need sunlight. Also, and this is something that BUGGED the fuck outta me when I first heard this ‘rumour’… what did the tree do when the ‘oak’ slept? Trees grow upwards right? Did he sleep standing up? Did he sleep? What happened at night time? Trees give out carbon dioxide at night right? Well thank fuck the tree was in his lung then, as opposed to say his oesophagus. It happily evaded detection due to the fact that people EXPECT carbon dioxide to come from lungs, therefore never ever would have thought to look for a tree in there.

This kind Doctor in the News24 article has also reminded us that trees actually don’t grow in human flesh or tissue. He makes a pretty decent point. There have been absolutely flippen BILLIONS of humans before and this is the first time I’ve heard of a tree in a person. I’ve heard of people in trees.

Anyway, I managed to dig up (pardon the pun) a picture of the tree from the lung. Now this looks like a sprig of a tree to me, or possibly a portion of a branch. Notice how it’s still IN the lung. Good work people, almost as good as blinking three times (refer to first article).

A picture of said tree would be entirely useless without that lung, and vice versa. Love the ruler for size scale.

Now I’m no expert on lungs or lung tissue, but I’ve smoked my fair share of shrubbery in my life so I’m almost an expert on this topic. The world’s first tree in lung expert. Anyway as I was saying I know my shit about trees and that thing on top there doesn’t look much like this…

Wikipedia says:

“A spruce is a tree of the genus Picea, a genus of about 35 species of coniferous evergreen trees in the Family Pinaceae, found in the northern temperate and boreal (taiga) regions of the earth.”

Notice that? Nothing about lungs. You be the judge. Me, I’m still to be convinced.
