You’ve probably all seen atleast one (if not all) of the Shrek movies. If you have kids, you’ve probably seen every single one of the four Shrek movies atleast 5 kazillion times. I’m right aren’t I?
I have good news! It’s the movie that’s all about Puss in Boots. I can’t wait to see it…for the first time and then, the time after that and, the time after that and, the time after that and, the time after that…
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I’ve been wanting to see this one for a while and it’s finally here. Make sure you get down to Ster Kinekor for the latest Timberlake movie, Friends with Benefits.
It’s move time and what better to watch than the new movie Bad Teacher with Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake (just to rekindle some old flames there)
Here’s the trailer, make sure you get down to Ster Kinekor to check this one out, it’s going to be a good one.
I don’t know about you guys but when I was a kid I was a voracious reader. Like I always say, I’d read the side of a baked beans can if there was nothing else around to read.
A big part of my upbringing was the transitional stage from kids books to adult books and like most kids from my era, Tintin was the oke that lead that transition. So with this in mind I have been waiting to see what quality the new Tintin 3D movie “The secret of the Unicorn” would be. Well I needn’t have worried. With Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson at the helm, this was always going to be a ripper. The best part of it is that the quality of animation is so good it looks like you’re IN the movie. Yep thats right, that was me in the big beard shouting blistering barnacles… only kidding.
Chace Crawford is set to star as a South African man who is accused of shooting and killing his housemate in a new independent film, The House Gun, reports The Los Angeles Times.
Pierce Brosnan is attached to play his father.
The movie is based on the acclaimed 1998 novel of the same name by SA Nobel Prize-winner Nadine Gordimer.
The House Gun is set in the early years of post-apartheid South Africa and tells the story of Harald Lingard (Brosnan), a liberal, wealthy South African who hires a black lawyer to defend his son Duncan (Crawford) when he is accused of killing his friend.
Last night Asstastic and I went to see Pirates of the Carribean and I started acting all weird like and shit like a pirate. Well one of the trailers was for Transformers 3D The Dark Of the Moon. You know that here at Socialyz we love that kind of shit, moon landings and space and aliens and all of that, so this movie trailer, especially in 3D was mind blowing. I can’t wait for this movie to come out, only a few short weeks to go.
Who knows maybe I’ll start talking in code and landing on moons n shit.
Hopefully next time my chair at the cinema won’t be broken. Oh if only…
Joe Social and I were out for our weekly romantic-do-something-with-your-other-half special and after enjoying a much needed lunch we decided to go watch Pirates of the Carribean’s 4th installment.
I was merrily driving home when Joe Social said ” Steady as she goes”. I thought it was a joke and thought nothing of it. Now however he ever keeps answering me with “aye”. It’s not funny anymore, I think watching 3D movies about pirates turns you into a pirate!
The movie wasn’t as good as the first three so hopefully Joe Social’s urge to speak pirate to me will wear off soon!
The director of the first Afrikaans film to be picked for the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France says he was “honoured” that the film was awarded the Queer Palm by the “powerhouse of European film critics”.
Director Oliver Hermanus’s Skoonheid (beauty), featured in the festival’s Un Certain Regard (a particular outlook) category, won the Queer Palm – a parallel award for the best film dealing with gay issues – on Saturday.
The film is about Francois, a fortysomething family man from the Free State, who struggles to suppress his latent sexual desires.
Despite his battle, he develops an unhealthy and destructive obsession with his friend’s 22-year-old son.
Aliens attack Earth and they don’t take on the Whitehouse?!
Sounds like fun to me! Remember Shaun of the Dead, the Zombie flick that turned the genre on it’s head and made us all love the walking dead again? Well from the makers of that movie comes Attack The Block.
Aliens arrive on planet Earth and instead of attacking the usual places, they land in… a council estate in South London.
Electronic music duo Basement Jaxx are writing the film score.
Jack Parow has announced that he will feature in new Afrikaans vampire movie Bloedsuiers.
Parow will contribute a specially written song to the soundtrack and will also be making a cameo appearance in the film.
“Whether he will play a human, villain or vampire will remain under wraps,” said producer Benjamin Cowley. “Fans will have to wait to see the film when it’s released”.
I guess this makes a change from the regular Afrikaans fare, slapstick humour and Boetie does goed kinda fare. I’m sure this will be worth a watch. The trailer below looks pretty decent.
The movie, described by the filmmakers as a horror-comedy revolves around two vampire hunters who go in search of a vampire prince in the Karoo.
Filming on Bloedsuiers is set to begin at the end of May or early June.
I guess every salivating young lady for the last few years has been wondering about this one… Can Taylor Lautner actually act? Can the impossibly good looking bad boy from the Twilight series hold a movie?
We are about to find out.
The trailer for his latest movie, Abduction, has just dropped and it certainly seems like a big screen adventure flick. I won’t give away the story line, the trailer does that for me. The usual talents are easily evident. People who can jump tall buildings etc abound. Would I watch this if it fell ‘off the back of a truck’? For sure.
A South African film Skoonheid has been announced as one of the films to be screened at the 64th Cannes film festival.
Skoonheid, a film by South African director Olivier Hermanus, is the first Afrikaans film ever to receive this honour.
Altogether 49 films have been chosen for the 11 day festival on May 11 on the French Riviera.
Woody Allen’s latest comedy Midnight in Paris – in which French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has a bit part – will open the festival.
Steering the Palme d’Or jury this year will be US actor and director Robert de Niro, while South Korean director Boon Joon-Ho will chair the panel that picks the winner of the Camera d’Or prize for best first film.
I am INTO anything to do with space. That includes space exploration and other life forms. I like Sci-fi movies and most people think I’m a nerd for it. Whatever! I’ve seen it all, I’ve heard it all. I say, I have a monstrous sense of adventure. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
Imagine my excitement when I came across this little gem. Daniel Craig grace’s us with his presence in the new movie Cowboys VS Aliens. What happened to Cowboys and Indians?? Screw the Indians! Give him aliens!
A stranger with no memory of his past stumbles into the desert town of Absolution. The people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford). Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by creatures from outer space. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. Go figure!
Residents of gang infested Bonteheuwel were left cowering as gunfire erupted – and continued – for a few hours last night.
The terrified folk found themselves sleeping on their floors and under beds in fear of being caught in the crossfire of what they believed was another turf war between the rival gangs that plague the area. The traumatic events were reported to Cape Talk radio this morning, which led to them calling the Metro Police to discover exactly what had happened to cause this particularly vicious gun battle so suddenly.
Was it drug related? Was it territorial? What was the cause of this gangland gangbang?
Was it maybe… DENZEL WASHINGTON?
There's a Safe house in Bonteheuwel?
That’s right – whilst the actual gangs were safely snoozing on drug filled mattresses, Denzel (or D-Wash as we call him) was shooting – no pun intended – his latest skop, skiet en donner fliek, Safehouse in neighbouring Langa. The movie also stars Ryan “Van Wilder”Reynolds and is being filmed right here in the fairest Cape. IMDB describes the movie thus, “ When a group of villains destroy a CIA-operated safe house, the facility’s young house-sitter must work to move the criminal who’s being hidden there to another secure location”.
Awesome for Cape Town’s burgeoning movie industry, not so cool for the poor folk in Bonteheuwel.
Superman was great, but his films always lacked a certain something. I never knew what it was untill I saw this trailer. ( Please be weary as this is some hardcore shit) So Superman finally get’s some proper ass. I’m no stranger to porn, but this certainly looks like the bottom of the box collection to me.
Just days after the trailer for The Hangover 2 raced it’s way across cyberspace with a vengenace, it has been pulled from theaters.
The trailer for the sequel to the popular 2009 comedy has spurred controversy in the film industry. In a letter to movie theaters, Warner Bros. and the Motion Picture Association of America have demanded that the trailer be deleted from servers with immediate effect.
Warner Bros. released a statement explaining they did not properly vet the final version of the trailer with the MPAA. Both they and the MPAA refused to speak on why the trailer was pulled.
In other words someone didn’t do their job properly.
It has been speculated and reported by but Reuters reports that a stimulated sex scene involving a monkey may be to blame.
I posted the trailer here, tell me what you think!
The Guggenheim Foundation, the high temple of contemporary art, has chosen Die Antwoords Zef Side video as one of the 25 best internet videos of the past two years.
Not bad for a bunch of back street poor white trash peeps saying fuck every second word. Make sure to pay special attention to 1:15 in the video, as if you couldn’t miss it.
