Heres a review of the basic storyline

Thirty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africas District 9 as the worlds nations argued over what to do with them.

Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens welfare they will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens awesome weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA.

The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.

A magistrate in Zimbabwe has convicted a well-known spirit medium of fraud.

Rotina Mavhunga allegedly tricked President Robert Mugabe’s political bureau into believing she could magic diesel out of a rock.

Shocking revelations show Zimbabwe’s Registrar General Tobaiwa Mudede may have engineered this fraud.

Back in 2007, Mavhunga rocked the nation when she claimed she could get diesel out of a rock in Chinhoyi.

She claimed the ancestral spirits had taken pity on Zimbabwe’s fuel shortages. Several cabinet ministers endorsed her claim. Now a Chinhoyi magistrate has convicted her and two accomplices of fraud.

The Registrar General is alleged to have supplied the spirit medium with diesel to perform the hoax. Mudede also helped the medium when she was on the run from police but there is no talk of any prosecution for him.

Victor Matfield, One Jumping Mofo

I was very impressed with the performance of Victor Matfield on Saterday.

This dude brings fear to the opposition with his ability to work out lineout calls. It’s quite often you’ll hear a commentator say… “Matfield has worked out the their lineout calls”

Why? Cos he is the man. We are truly privileged to have him around and Im super thrilled to have him currently playing with Andries Bekker, his obvious heir apparent. It’s a no brainer that he will move on to coach our lineout forwards.

Cos that’s what I would have done… and I’m almost as main as him, cos I can fly.

Well a few nights ago I went with some friends to watch The Proposal. At first I was less than enamoured with the idea of seeing Sandra Bullock (having not seen her on screen for a while) in a Romantic Comedy.

You see I thought she was past it. How wrong could I been?

So Seeing as all my movie watching mates were girls I though what the hell not.

Now it might have something to do with women turning 44. But Sandra decided to go naked in this movie (her first nudie). She didn’t quite pull off the show us yer tits love performance that  Marisa did, but then again her character wasn’t as rough as Tomei’s in the Wrestler.

Maybe its something hollywood actresses need to do to get out of their system. Something that’s for sure, is that at this age they have certainly had plenty time to tone and do whatever is is to look so damn fine. Either way I’m not complaining.

Beforehand this was my favourite pic of the gal.

Anyway in a bizarre case of copycatting, a 17 year old York lad was this week busted doing exactly the same thing!

Iol reports:

New York – A York teenager was questioned by police after tricking British aviation executives into believing he was an airline tycoon.

In a hoax echoing the Steven Spielberg movie, Catch Me If You Can, the 17-year-old posed as a businessman in his twenties for six months, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Under the pseudonym Adam Tait, he flew to New Jersey to hold a meeting with the director of its airport to launch a cut-price Channel Islands airline.

His exploits mirror the character played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the film Catch Me If You Can which was based on the real life escapades of Frank Abagnale Jr, who posed as an airline pilot from the age of 16 and 21.
