At socialyz we have a new South African Idols favourite and our vote will be going to Dave. The whole country got driven to tears as Dave Van Vuuren performed his version of Don McLean’s Vincent. If you know the original then I’m sure you’ll appreciate Dave’s version on the song.
I got something in my eye…

You’ve probably all seen atleast one (if not all) of the Shrek movies. If you have kids, you’ve probably seen every single one of the four Shrek movies atleast 5 kazillion times. I’m right aren’t I?
I have good news! It’s the movie that’s all about Puss in Boots. I can’t wait to see it…for the first time and then, the time after that and, the time after that and, the time after that and, the time after that…

I guess this song is the new favourite, mainly because It’s always played on the radio atleast 20 times a day and because I have about 5 cd’s in my car with this song on it. Everyone can most probably relate to this song in one way or another, I know I certainly can but what is the song about for Adele? Watch this video and find out…

It’s hump day in Cape Town and the sun is out and I’m sure you are all looking forward to a great, fabulous, fantastic, exciting weekend. I sure as hell am! Your hump day special is brought to you by Me, Asstastic and Mahpicky my Side-Kicky.
I recently wrote an article on my BFF and how lame it is that she has moved away from Cape Town. Life is just too dull without her and we would like to have the sparkle back in our lives!
I went through some pictures on my trusted Blackberry and came across some errr pictures. Let’s just say, we make the chicks in this video look like amateurs!
ha!
Ok maybe not quite as dirty as this but you would pretty much have to go wash your eyes our with bleach…

Wild-haired Idols contestant Freddie van’Dango reportedly had his jaw broken in a fight with a “cage fighter”. The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday morning in Greenside.
Though M-Net spokesperson Lani Lombard denied that Van’Dango’s jaw was broken, saying that the popular singer was only injured, there are serious doubts as to whether Van’Dango will be able to attend tonight’s Idols results show.

I have a new get-me-in-the-mood-for-a-party song! It’s David Guetta and Jennifer Hudson. It was annoying at first but like all of these songs, it tends to grow on you…
Makes you wanna shake your biscuit dont it??! So, if you see some crazy chick dancing behind her steering wheel it’s probably me…I apologise in advance for my actions especially if you’re a business professional and first impressions are your thing.

I’m a big Foo Fighters fan. Dave Grohl in particular just gives that vibe that it’s all about the rock.
Driving guitars, heart-pounding drums and growling lyrics tempered with some amazing melodies and a massive dose of stage presence make them one of the bands that appear on my “must see live” list before I (or any of them) are too old or too dead to do so.
Another thing I enjoy about them is their ability to take the complete mickey out of themselves in some of their music videos. Take “Low” where Jack Black and Dave Grohl get up to some night time shenanigans in a motel. Or “Learning to Fly” which features both of Tenacious D’s members accidentally spiking the coffee on board an airplane being flown by the Foo’s.
And their latest video for the track “Walk” off the Wasting Light album (an excellent listen). This one is a take on the great Michael Douglas movie, “Falling Down” and is definitely worth a watch.
Enjoy.

I don’t know about you guys but when I was a kid I was a voracious reader. Like I always say, I’d read the side of a baked beans can if there was nothing else around to read.
A big part of my upbringing was the transitional stage from kids books to adult books and like most kids from my era, Tintin was the oke that lead that transition. So with this in mind I have been waiting to see what quality the new Tintin 3D movie “The secret of the Unicorn” would be. Well I needn’t have worried. With Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson at the helm, this was always going to be a ripper. The best part of it is that the quality of animation is so good it looks like you’re IN the movie. Yep thats right, that was me in the big beard shouting blistering barnacles… only kidding.
Enjoy.

That’s if you were affected.
I was and to use an oft repeated term, I saw RED.
See being involved in a number of commercial businesses, I’ve had it in the back of my mind that Vodacoms outage last week was in fact something that can be ‘looked at’ using the new consumer protection act. Well I’ve just come across this article and it makes perfect sense to me. As a consumer, one who earns commission, I certainly lost out on that day and finally we may be able to do something about it.
Vodacom may be forced by the National Consumer Commission to refund its customers for losses suffered because of the operator’s network failure on Thursday, which left many clients unable to make and receive calls for most of the day.
If the commission, which administers the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), succeeds in sanctioning Vodacom, it will be the first case under the act.
It could set a precedent compelling other companies to improve service to customers. Section 54 of the act, which gives consumers the right to demand good-quality services, states that if a supplier fails to perform a service, the consumer may require the supplier to remedy any defect in the quality of the service performed or goods supplied, or to refund a reasonable portion of the price paid for the services performed and goods supplied.
Vodacom issued a full-page apology in yesterday’s newspapers, in which its CEO Pieter Uys said the cause of the outage was a multiple failure in the transmission network.
“We are conducting a thorough investigation to understand exactly what caused this failure and why the backup systems did not do their job,” he said.
But the national consumer commissioner, Mamodupi Mohlala, said yesterday an apology was “not good enough. Consumers are entitled to a refund as stated in the CPA. The network operators (including Vodacom) are aware of this clause, section 54(2) in the CPA.”

Management of the trendy ZAR nightclub in Cape Town have been warned to obtain valid operating licences or face closure.
The night spot, which opened in January this year, is operating without liquor, entertainment and business licences.
The club, which is owned by business tycoon Kenny Kunene, is housed at the Cape Royale Hotel in Greenpoint.
It is believed the club is operating on the hotel’s licences.
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith said nightclub management will be issued with a notice.
“As for the business licence, when they get the first notice it will give them a warning and a minimal time to comply. Failing so, we will take them to court,” he said.
Smith said the SAPS Liquor Unit will also issue ZAR management with a final notice.

According to the Daily Mail, OJ Simpson has already told the talk show queen that he knifed his wife to death in self defence, a revelation he is set to repeat as Oprah wraps up her stint as the world’s premiere talk show host.
Oprah isn’t saying a word about. According to the Chicago Sun and the Hollywood Reporter, she denies that OJ told her he did it, but hinted that extracting that confession wouldn’t be that hard.“And I am going to make that happen people,” Oprah said, adding that it was “not that lofty” a goal.“I don’t just want the interview. I want the interview on the condition that you are ready, Mr. Simpson.”
Simpsonis currently serving a nine year sentence for a robbery and kidnapping conviction in Las Vegas in 2008. He was famously acquitted of murdering his wife and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1995, even though the evidence seemed stacked against him.

In a terrible case of a company not being in touch with whats going on around it, Nike Inc is being blasted for replacing its signature “Just Do It” slogan on some T-shirts with the phrases “Dope”, “Get High” and “Ride Pipe”.
The shoe and athletic apparel company said the terms are part of the lingo used by the skaters, snowboarders and participants in other extreme sports it’s trying to target with the shirts. But critics say the slogans endorse drug use.

The video for I Wanna Go, begins with the singer hosting a mock press conference.
The first question fired at her is: ‘Is it true you banned junk food, smiles, sunshine, candy and laughter from your Femme Fatale tour?’ to which she replies, ‘Yes’. She is then asked if she can confirm reports she is pregnant with Brad Pitt’s lovechild. Britney leans into the microphone, and says : ‘That’s false, it’s quintuplets’.
If it were me I’d rather have the cop in the video’s “lustchild”.
The mum-of-two, grows tiresome of the journalists and then launches into a rant of ‘F*** yous’ before turning to leave.
I Wanna Go is the third single from her platinum selling seventh studio album Femme Fatale.
