Not a cloud in the sky
Only flames in our eyes
As if everybody seems to know what time it is
Time for a braai
It’s time to have some fun
Chorus
I hear those voices until late at night
All together and we feel all right, all right
I see their faces in the golden light
All together and we feel all right, all right
Feeling Alright, hope you feeling alright people…
Verse 2
We stand united at the bonfire
We raise our glasses to the clear, blue sky
Tell me your story and I’ll tell you mine
Things will be better and I’m feeling fine
Chorus

All together and we feel all right, all right
I see their faces in the golden light
All together and we feel all right, all right
I’m alright, are you?

Which makes him quite famous or infamous in the UK depending on how you look at things.
Why? Well, Shem has just achieved the notable “accolade” of being named Britains youngest grandfather – aged just 29!
Yup, Shem’s family are taking the UK’s teen-pregnancy vibe to a whole new level. To give you the abridged version of events, Shem Davies became a father to young Tia at aged 14. Not to be outdone of course, Tia has herself given birth to a little girl, Ava one week shy of her 15th birthday, making Shem the UK’s youngest grandad! (more…)

A friend of mine Angela, that I was in school with ‘just the other day’, recently contacted me to let me know about an adventure she is involved in that involves swimming the English Channel.
Now this isn’t just your routine pro swimmer making a beeline across the channel, and here is a little bit more about this challenge.

So the ‘other royal wedding’ has come and gone, and while the first of the two brought us Pippa Middleton, a balcony ‘blowjob scene’ and a rather tired little flower girl, French journalists covering the royal wedding in Monte Carlo this week added new words to their vocabulary – boerewors, melktert and kameelhout.
South African executive chef Dean Uren was responsible for the food dished up, who with his Fairmont Zimbali colleague and sous-chef Peter Mtshali, flew to the principality to help prepare the huge buffet for more than 6000 guests.
When asked about the journos new verbal skills, he said: “They catch on very quickly,”
Prince Albert and his new bride, Bulawayo-born Charlene Wittstock, specifically asked the Fairmont Hotel – near Durban – to prepare the meals for residents of the principality, to merge the best of local cuisine with that of his wife’s home country (Wittstock grew up in SA).
After Friday’s civil ceremony guests were treated to traditional lamb bredie, curried fish served with rice and sweet potatoes, sweetcorn salad – and even koeksisters.
The boerewors was made in Monte Carlo with Italian beef, but it was the South African name that seemed to be the new buzz word.

French weekly L’Express reported on its website that Charlene Wittstock, who is set to marry the tiny French Riviera principality’s head of state on Saturday, went to the airport in nearby Nice last week to board a one-way flight for South Africa, where she grew up.
It required “infinite persuasion” by the prince and members of his entourage to convince the 33-year-old former swimming champion to change her mind, the magazine said. “These rumors only serve to gravely hurt the image of the Sovereign, and that of Miss Wittstock, and bring major harm to this happy event,” a palace spokeswoman said in a statement, calling the claims untrue.
A lawyer for the couple, Thierry Lacoste, similarly denied the report and told the daily Le Figaro he had started legal action against L’Express.

It’s winter in the mother city and I bet you’re stuck in doors with the kids because going to the beach on a cold grey day just isn’t as much fun. I came up with a list of things to do in and around Cape Town and I thought. Why don’t you go have a lookie over here. (more…)

Yup- if you have the money and the stomach for it, you too can join Julius Malema and Jacob Zuma and the ANC Youth League behind closed doors at their 24th National Congress. Packages start at R50,000 for 1 person – the “Anton Muziwakhe Lembede founders package” – and race right up to the very reasonable R180,000 “Walter Ulyate Max Sisulu Recruiters Package”, which will mean you can take four friends!
According to their website, www.ancylbizlounge.co.za, for the bargain price of just under a quarter of a million you and your four victims friends can:
Now I’ve only got a few questions. How many of their supporters have that sort of disposable income? And assuming they do get a few takers, what exactly are they going to do with that money?

In a move that is sure to piss a whole lot of people the fuck off, Holland is to bar foreigners from its infamous cannabis-selling coffee shops.
Anti-drugs laws will see restrictions placed on who can use the shops, which allow patrons to buy and smoke drugs legally.
The rules, called “tourism suicide” by some, could put an end to many of the tens of thousands of visits made by Britons to Amsterdam every year. I say the DA in Cape Town should make a mini Amsterdam under oom Jans statue in Cape Town and we should partake in the pound.
Under legislation spearheaded by far-right politicians, only Dutch residents will be able to enter the cannabis-selling premises. I’d call that racism. Julius Malema would have a field day on these fools.
By the end of the year, would-be customers in Amsterdam will have to sign up for a one-year membership, or “dope pass”, to the coffee shops. Each shop will be allowed a maximum of 1,500 members.
Opposition MPs say the move could cost the country millions of pounds a year in lost revenue. No Shit.

The South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) has announced that a rare eclipse will be visible in SA during June.
“A total lunar eclipse will be visible from South Africa on the 15th of June 2011. The last total lunar eclipse visible from this region was in February 2008 and the next one will only be in September 2015,” the SAAO told News24 in a statement.
Despite the regular nature of eclipses, astronomer Dr Enrico Olivier said that this was quite special.
“It’s special in the sense that it’s a total eclipse which is somewhat more rare than a normal lunar eclipse which is usually a partial or penumbral eclipse,” he told News24.
The next total eclipse will be visible from SA in September 2015. The moon will enter the earth’s shadow at 21:22 and at 23:03, will start to leave the earth’s umbral shadow.

Remember I wrote about the fact that a South African Girl will be the next Royal Wedding Bride?
Well it’s just been reported that the winner of Idols 2009 Jason Hartman has been invited to perform at the royal wedding of Prince Albert of Monaco and the South African swimmer Charlene Wittstock.
Hartman, who apparently received an invitation to the wedding, is “jumping for joy” at the prospect of performing at the wedding, Channel24 reported on Monday.
“It is a very big honour … We are flying this week and will stay in Monaco for the next seven weeks,” Hartman reportedly told Beeld newspaper.
Together with his brother on drums and his father on guitar, Hartman will also open a gala event on 27 May at the Monaco Grand Prix ahead of famous acoustic rock group The Eagles.
The bride and groom will get married during a two day ceremony in Monaco on July 1 and 2 this year.

I saw this one over at BangersandNash.
What perfect timing, although no-one can find the doomsayer Mr. Camping (gone camping BBL) so we cannot show him this, it’s a fitting tribute to the end of the World by Electric Method.
All you knobheads who even thought Mr Camping had an iota of a chance at actually being right… this one’s for you.

The SA Music Awards on Saturday night were such a shambles that some of the judges could not be seated for the ceremony.
Ukhozi FM’s Phumlane Mbatha, better known by his stage name, DJ Sgqemeza, was part of the huge judging panel, which included his Ukhozi FM colleague Zandile Tembe and journalist and socialite Lesley Mofokeng.
They ended up watching the show on television after being given “the run-around” by the organisers.
The awards evening, moved from Sun City to Montecasino, north of Johannesburg, this year to make it more accessible to fans, was a disaster, with award winners reportedly taking up to three minutes to reach the stage.

Most of you think that it’s a chance to have a fat party tomorrow night and then do sweet f-all on Wednesday, but you must remember how important Wednesday is to South Africa.
If you are not happy with what your elected officials are doing for you in government, now is the time to say so.
This is a little video put together by the TimesLive team to get the message across.
We will be updating the South African election results for the 2011 south african election as we get them!
